Monday Progress on the Hardwood Floor
![]() |
By the end of the day we had the hang of it; the pieces on the left of the image are nailed down and the ones to the right are just dry fit together waiting to be moved into place and nailed down. |
HK had to take an important phone call from AK! |

November is almost over!
The Great Room was full of tools and supplies on Friday. |
By Saturday we had it cleaned out. It hasn't been this empty in a very long time and it's really nice to see the actual room again; it seems much bigger without a lot of stuff in it. |
By Sunday we had the floor prepped; high points sanded down and most of the underlay down. |
The first boxes of floor have been put out to see the variation in the Ash. |

There are quite a few different colours and wood grains within the boxes. |

A few more odds and ends
Pictures have been hung in the spare bedroom. The bed frame and side tables/bookshelves have been ordered; we hope to have those before Christmas. |

The bathroom tiling is coming along nicely. The floor had to receive another scratch coat with a wire mesh support as the mosaic tiles were a little small for the Ditra mats to work properly. |
Henrik has cleared out the baseboards and window frames from the great room in preparation for hardwood flooring. |

The baseboards and window trims are now hanging out in the basement awaiting their turn at installation. |

October Developments
![]() |
HK is working hard on the guest bathroom, creating in form the ideas he has been working on for the last few months. |
![]() |
It's looking really spectacular! and will be done in no time, ready for Christmas cheer and visitors. |
The bedroom is largely complete, though it needs some more furniture, and the baseboard connected, to feel more cozy. |
The bed is rather inviting on a sleepy Sunday afternoon. |
AOs wood chopping adventures have yielded good squirrel like stashes for the winter. |
The periwinkle is blooming in October! |
