Grouting Weekend

AO applied grout to the laundry room tiles today.

Completed tiling, now we have to see if we can cover the entire thing with acrylic so it's totally waterproof and the glass tiles won't be able to pop out.

HK grouting the pebble tiles.

The completed pebble tile apron will be ready for sealing in a day or two.

Birthday Basket Arrival from Calgary

Two lovely birthday baskets from Cindi, Emily and Victoria were delivered yesterday though we also suspect CK may have had something to do with it.
AO's birthday basket is full of spa supplies and lovely tea.  A full bathrobe was included and now lives in the guest bedroom.

HK's basket of beer, cheese, fish will provide several Danish supper type feasts.  Beer will be shared with CK upon his return from South America. A package of cat food for Frodo was also present in HK's basket and he suspects she slipped in the request when he wasn't looking, fortunately, AO read the package before HK could eat it.

Happy Birthday to Me

HK went up the tree to tie it off and cut off its head.

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me...I cut down a tree.
But don't feel bad for Mr Tree, he got too big too close to the house so he had to go before someone got hurt.

HK put the pebble tiles in place. They will be grouted on the weekend.

Laundry Room Tiling Starts

Henrik preps the floor drain before the tiling begins.

The first tiles are lined up so they are square - though the room isn't quite square as usual :)
The tiles are sitting in their thin set now and will be grouted this week.

Long Time No Blog

The cherry trim has been added to the bathroom window.
Bathroom cabinet doors are being built, these will get black plexiglass in the middle and an aluminum strip in the groove in the frame.

Frodo is recovering from her poke at the clinic this morning.  Then she got another poke of cartrophen when she got home so it has been a rough day for the old lady.

The hearth is being prepped for the addition of the pebble stone tiles.

Wire mesh is attached to the subfloor for strength and then thinset mortar will be used to attach the stones to the floor.

Since the Oleson's cut down some trees to help improve our view, we took out a few more view blockers to improve it even further. These trees were in a clump that had actually been previously cut down by the former owners; the Arbutus trees had re-grown from their stumps.
We will be having large bonfires as soon as things dry out enough.

Andrea has some splitting to do as a result of the tree falling :) it's always good to get more firewood into the shed for next year.

2013 is here

The last part of the great room floor is the hatch to the crawl space. The hinges are buried in the floor.

Only a few more rows to go in the hatch cover.

Frodo likes helping.

Dust bunnies...well maybe dust rhinos.  We moved a shelving unit and found out where they were breeding. Why is everything always so dusty, it's driving me crazy.

The house in the evening from the ocean side.

View from the driveway side in the evening.

Henrik had the hatch cover completed in the library by the end of the weekend.

A few Christmas Images

Berry Boys!
Meanwhile, the photographer sits clutching her fire extinguisher in the corner; twitching slightly as the candles burn....

The candles from Calgary were very pretty on the dinner table!

The nutcracker gets his chestnuts warmed in the light of the candle!

New hog for the tree!

Louise in the basket chair by the fire!

New owl for the tree

Christmas celebrations with loot!

The turkey's in the oven and we haven't opened the stockings yet!
