New window on the left and the skylight hole opened above the window on the right.
Next week the old window will be removed and replaced with two windows that will be above the kitchen sink.

View into the kitchen skylight, next week Ray will build the framing around all the skylights.

The new guest bedroom window has been installed.
The bedroom will be much improved with an opening window.

Clean Up and End Wall Removal

The drywall mess has been cleaned up and CK took it all to the recycle depot.

The wall between the former master bedroom and the great room is now just a plastic sheet.

The view from inside the Great Room.  It's still very hard to visualize what the space will look like once the plastic and door come down.

Even with the door open you can't really get a feel for the area just yet.

Second Day of Smashing

When I took this picture on Sunday there was a hall closet and linen closet in front of this. This space becomes the guest room; it's going to be a really good size.

This is the door onto the cement deck.  On the left side of the studs used to sit the bathroom counter and sink.

This was the master bedroom with the big window looking out onto the deck, behind the studs was the ensuite.

A look down the long dark hall at night.  It doesn't look a thing like it did two days ago.

Looking back towards the stairs to the tower room.  The green insulation is where the old front door used to be.

First Day of Smashing

The first item on the agenda was placing a plastic wall to protect our living space.

Another view of the separation, tomorrow it will get a door to make moving around easier.
Frodo is very keen to get past the plastic.

On the other side of the plastic the drywall removal has just started.

The waste material is all going out the window.  The half timbers had to come off to get the window out  and will be replaced with new wood work and bricks.

Christian is on waste clean up duty and his truck sits waiting to be filled with drywall waste tomorrow.

The bricky will have some more masonry work this spring as the bricks came off in one big chunk plus a couple singles. There were almost no brick ties behind this group of bricks.  We are hoping for a better outcome on the bigger parts of the brick walls.
